The story so far
Sisters Alice and Rosie were born and raised on the family farm just outside Sudbury in Suffolk. They didn’t know it then but their home would, in 2014 become the subject from which the Hicks & Brown brand name derived. Their mother, a renowned dressmaker and designer, was a true inspiration and support to the girls throughout their childhood and instilled in them a life-long love of design and textiles.
Whilst the sisters left the countryside to embark on careers in London, Alice within rural property and estates and Rosie as a bloodstock underwriter, both maintained their connection with the country way of life, in particular the equestrian and country sporting worlds. Together Alice and Rosie would make clothes to wear themselves and were always overwhelmed with lovely comments from family and friends who admired their creations. It was from those beginnings that the idea to establish a fashion label of their own was born.
Their first pop-up showcase was at their local Suffolk Show in 2014 and proved a roaring success. A couple of years later Alice and Rosie were able to leave London to return to their Suffolk home which now provides the location for their workshop and studio; the creative hub of Hicks & Brown.
From their cherished time in London, to their years spent in the great British countryside, Alice and Rosie are fortunate to combine a fusion of influences to create their designs. Their versatile clothing collections cater for both men and women, with signature pieces created in an array of colourways and fabrics to work as well in the town as in the country. The collection comprises of Jackets, Gilets and Waistcoats, as well as their hugely popular Fedora Hats and line of hand-crafted accessories.
Fiercely British in both the design and craftsmanship, Hicks & Brown is now a multi-channel shopping destination through their studio, e-commerce website and a number of independent stockists. Their celebrated pop-up shop tours the country throughout the year, visiting international equestrian events, prestigious country shows and Christmas fairs, and to critical acclaim, having won ‘Best Dressed Trade Stand’ at the 2016 Royal Windsor Show.
Alice and Rosie are thoughtful and inventive in their approach, to ensure the highest quality and level of performance from their products, whether they are destined to be worn on the streets of Chelsea or amidst the shooting field.
